A lift (elevator) is a vertical transportation system used to move people or goods safely between floors in a building. Lifts are operated using electrical, mechanical, and safety systems that work together to ensure smooth, controlled, and safe movement.
Modern elevators use motors, brakes, control circuits, doors, safety devices, and wiring systems to function reliably in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

How an Elevator Works
An elevator operates when the controller receives a call, activates the motor, releases the brake, and moves the car using wire ropes over the main sheave. The door system, safety circuits, governor, and brake continuously monitor safe operation. In case of overspeed or fault, safety devices stop the lift automatically.
